With a poor or dodgy DTT cable connection to stb or along the line with joiners, does it mean that you should get all of the channels or none at all. (like when tuning in the aerial)

or could you get most ok with one or two with problems, like the old analogue.

If signal is poor the likely hood is that even if you manage to tune in the channels they will start to pixalate and be unwatchable as it will drive you nutz over time.

Heres a video showing such a problem

Not sure why you would ask this question unless you are having problems with specific services: are RTE1 & RTE1 +1 bad & the others OK? Or the other way round?

Saorview services are carried on 2 multiplexes now, in separate UHF channels & it's possible you could have slightly better reception of 1 over the other.

Had to remove aerial from stb the other day to do something else but after reconnecting it I later discovered RTE1 was blank or just the sound struggling to come in even after a rescan.

But on other tv it was perfect.

Turns out the aerial in or out conn on stb just needed a little tweak.

Wasn't sure with DTT if you had to get all channels or none at all when you have an unsound conn. Seems to have been only RTE1 that was affected which sounds a bit odd, would have expected a few more to have same prob.

RTE1 & RTE1 +1/RTE jr. are now carried on the 2nd multiplex (mux 2), so could be affected differently to the other channels.

Connectors needing a 'tweak' are poorly made & should be redone.

If you have reception trouble again, you can try the 'old' version of RTE1 at no. 11 in the EPG.
