They're not gonna know any different. You certainly can't legally drive it in a public place. Not sure about being legally able to own it. 17 year olds can and they're under 18 so who knows?

Changing ownership probably will work as I am not sure how they would go about validating your age but you will not be able to drive it legally in a public place as you are not old enough to hold a learner permit/license and be insured on it.

There are no age restrictions on owning a car.

I even knows of a lad that has a car registered to his dog.

Max the dog has 12 penalty points probably...

I don't even remember if there is a question about an age/date of birth when transferring the ownership.
How did the dog sign the logbook:rolleyes:

That's hilarious, I am transferring ownership of my car to my youngest kid. How would it work ifa speeding fine came in the post?
Would it be up to the guards to prove who was driving the car? Could it go to court and my little kid would go up in front of the judge?

Well, you are a guardian in this case, not to mention there is insurance and tax before you can hit the road.

there was actually some talk/rules brought in a few years ago to stop people selling cars to kids. Due to kids buying bangers to go rallying in

I wouldn't say there is anything to stop a child actually owning a car, but I don't think one couldn't enter in to a contract to purchase one

It can enter into a contract to buy one but the other party couldn't enforce the contract if the minor resiled from it; a distinction. Of course, if the car could be regarded as a necessary, it could be enforced.

I got my first car in my name when I was 15 so yes you can register it at that age

Well for ya kid, anyway you can own what ever you like, but as long as you sit in your driveway and play with the controls you should be grand...................

Is there not some law about selling an MPV to an under 16, I'm fairly sure there is but google isn't throwing it up but I have found a refernce to it on donedeal about buying a quad.
