I'm designing my own invites but I've hit a snag. Wedding is end of march, so when should the rsvp date be?

4 weeks before the wedding. Allows you time to chase up people who don't reply before you have to give final numbers to the hotel.

I agree 4 weeks is perfect.

Yeah, I think we said 5-6 weeks but used the next week to get in touch with those late. There were a few that wouldn't know til closer again, but at least it was only small number. We just really needed better estimation of numbers for the wedding.

We went for three weeks before.

We went one month before the actual date (had all the RSVPs back by then except for about 20 people who all replied in the next week or so)

Our date is just three weeks before the wedding. Looking back now I think we should have gone for at least a month, just to have more time to ring people who aren't on time replying etc...

Should I send an rsvp with the evening invites?

I don't think you need to the RSVP is to give numbers for food to the hotel!

Also just wondering how long in advance to send evening invites?

True but will they need numbers for the evening buffet too?

I'm planning to send both day and evening invites at the same time

Most hotels have a recommendation for evening food, e.g. 80% or 75% of the dinner guests. In most cases, unless you're having a small wedding and a load of evening invites, those work out ok.

My sister is giving 6 weeks on the recommendation of the woman who did the invites. Extra time to chase up and also to invite anyone else that you didnt have room for if you get a few people unable to come!
