Stanley Comeragh pipe stat query

My aunts Stanley Comeragh solid fuel cooker pipe stat un clipped off one of the pipes while she was cleaning out the cupboard, i read through the link off stanley website and it has 2 different statements of what pipe to use, below is the link.

On page 9 it says fit it pipe stat to return and set it to 50 degrees and on page 16 the checklist page it says to fit to the flow but does not say what temperature.
The installation is done same way as the manual, plumber that did the job is in Australia, i have emailed Stanley but got no reply yet, any help be great.

Stats are generally fitted to the flow pipe.

Will that do to keep the water return above 50?

Difficult to know but I wouldn`t worry. Back end corrosion is caused by consistently low temperatures but solid fuel usually burns hot enough to alleviate that concern.

Ill do that shortly for her and put a fire down and hope all work, thanks.

Just turn the stat down to a low temperature and listen for the pump to kick in just to check that the wiring wasnt pulled loose.

Had a bit of panic earlier, lit fire and all was well pump worked as needed, it was only after a few hours that i heard the range boiling, pipe out of attic was running and the rads were not warm, i ran upstairs to hotpress and opened flat screw on pump a shot of air came out and it started pumping water again, we let the fire run out dont know what happened, the pump never stopped running wherever the air came from?
