I recently had to send back my iPad because it needed a new digitiser. Apple decided that they would just send me a new refurbished one, which I was fine about. I received it the other day and I've been trying to restore it from my iTunes since. For some reason when I connect the iPad to my laptop it makes the standard noise to tell me something has been connected however when I opened iTunes the new iPad did not register on it. There wasn't anything exceptionally important on it but still I would like to restore it. Anyone with similar problem or experience with how I could resolve this I'd be more than grateful!

Just run through the setup on the iPad and then you can restore it through iTunes after. One thing to note is you can't restore a backup of say 7.0.4 if the replacement iPad is on an earlier iOS. You have to update it first.

Also check that you have the most recent version of iTunes. Older versions of iTunes don't like newer iOS software.

And any reason you're not restoring from an iCloud backup?

So I just set it up as a new iPad and then I can restore it later?

Yes you could do that but anything you do on the iPad before you restore will be lost after restoring. What iOS is the iPad on and what was your faulty one on?

My iPad was iOS 7 and the new one is running on iOS 7 too. I have the newest version if iTunes aswell. It's really annoying me because I was lost without it and now I have it back and I can't use it!
