Christmas present panic

I set my heart on getting my husband an x-rocker gaming chair for Christmas. I am going to Dublin this weekend to stay with my sister, do the last bit of my Christmas shopping and get my husband's chair.
The reason why I hadn't bought the chair before now is because I needed someone to collect it with me as I don't drive a car.
On a whim I decided this morning to have a look on the argos website just to double check the price and keep an eye on the stock. Got a fright when I saw that the chair is now out of stock in all of the their stores

There is no information online about incoming stock and I have called the main argos number twice now and each time I've been on hold for 10 minutes and had to hang up as I'm in work.

Does anyone have any idea on how argos normally run this sort of thing? Would they normally get in more stock closer to Christmas? I'm in a sweat now as I have no idea what to get him instead

I don't think anyone here can answer if/when they will get them back in stock. If you tell us what chair it is exactly someone may find it from another store or website.

Hi Lima Golf, thanks for the reply. It's one of those x rocker gaming chairs with the bluetooth speakers. I managed to get in touch with someone in Argos and was told they will not be restocking these again until sometime in 2014. Seriously annoyed that they have them advertised on their website and in their catalogues but they're not actually stocking them.

Which one is it you're looking for? I just had a quick look at Argos, there are five listed on their website, and four are in stock in the Argos closest to me in Dublin at least, ready for collection this weekend. (You're probably looking for the one that's out of stock?!)

Hi there, I am looking for the one that's out of stock. I actually tried the website again this morning (just chancing my arm) and it actually allowed me to reserve the chair I want at the store I want to pick it up from this weekend, yesterday it just showed up as out of stock and there was no option to order or anything, so whoever I spoke to in Argos yesterday gave me the wrong information, hopefully other people are not also being given the wrong information so close to Christmas.

    Thanks for the help anyway.

And back to the panic, I just contacted Argos because when I received my reservation e-mail there was no reservation number on it, and the woman I spoke to rang the store I reserved it in and they said they have none in stock and therefore the reservation was created by error through the website, the woman I spoke to also told me that there is no stock of the particular chair in Ireland and she cannot see anything on their system about it coming into stock so back to square one. Bummer.

Might they have it in an Argos up north? They might have more stock over the border.

Unfortunately there's no way I'd be able to get up North between now and Christmas as I don't drive a car myself and wouldn't like to put someone else under pressure to bring me up.

    Thanks anyway.

You might already be using it but www.checkargos.com is an easy way of checking all stores at once.

    Have used that.

The woman I spoke to earlier checked all stores too for current and future stock and there is none. Such a bummer.

This crowd seem to have a few different types and deliver to ireland : http://www.boysstuff.co.uk/page/delivery/

    Stockists: http://www.x-rocker.co.uk/retailers.php

You might just have to buy online. Call up some toy shops though, some local ones might have it.

And just for a bit more confusion, I got another e-mail from Argos today providing a reservation number

Have tried all the local toy and electrical shops and none of them have it or have ever sold it.

boysstuff.co.uk do not have the one I want until 2014.

    Thanks anyway.

It's the x rocker pro gaming chair with wireless speakers, it's the one on a pedestal with armrests.

Had a good search online and unless you want to pay significantly more than the argos price it might be time to think of a back up gift. eBay seems to have a few but they are very expensive.

I already have a few back up gifts ordered thankfully. The back and forth with Argos is confusing me, I hope there isn't this sort of carry on with any of their other products.

Ebay is really expensive, usually cheap chair but mega delivery charge.

Thanks for all the help anyway.
