Smell of smoke?

We lit a fire tonight, but not for first time this winter. When I went up to bed, there was a smell of smoke in the bedroom. Thought it was strange as the bedroom isn't above the room with the fireplace, and we've had a fire lot recently without this happening. Any thoughts on what it could be / how worried I should be?

Had a similar problem. Fire in our sittingroom is below the master bedroom and we had smoke coming from under skirting. After investigation we found a cracked chimney pot and with a suspected down draught we got smoke upstairs. Not saying this is your problem but just a possibility. :)
