    everyone's will be different...that's half the problem.

    try swinging slower and slower, hitting a 7 iron 80 yards or so...then build up until you are still hitting it solidly.

    There is a book and CD called "Tour Tempo" that is designed to get your tempo to match that of the tour players.
    They measure tempo as the ratio of backswing to downswing.
    The premise is that all the top players have the same tempo of approx 3:1, i.e. backswing takes three times as long as the down swing.
    They provide different tempo tracks on the CD (27/9, 24/8, 30/10, etc.), you then match your swing to these.

    I have the book and CD but haven't really done anything with it yet, have a look at some reviews online, it seems to work well for some people and not at all for others.
    I picked it up on ebay for a few euros (just make sure the CD is included as it's useless without the CD).
