    Courtown is fishing ok.

Just back from spending the last few days on beach with a tent and big fire :) Plenty of fish, unfortunately no bass or doggies :(

If you've transport head to Ramor and you'll get plenty of Roach, ask a few locals and they'll put you on a descent peg

i wouldnt say pointless but dont expect many, you might get coalies, whiting or codling depending on where you are tho. i had wrasse about 2 weeks ago off deep water quay in cobh but they ranged from tiny(8-10cms) upto about 1.5lbs. wouldnt usually be big fish there tho but got plenty over the 2lb mark during september/october. great fun on ul gear.

Just over 200 Cavan venues listed and described here -

It's a big county so this may help narrow the choices down somewhat. The tourist blurb claims they have 365 lakes but nobody seems to be able to list exactly that number. It's like the 365 islands in Clew Bay.
