Currently doing an assignment on Hardness Testing and we've done Brinell, Vickers, Rockwell and Shoremeter testing on five pieces, aluminium, brass, copper, mild steel and black mild steel. I'm trying to find the actually BHN for those five materials but can't seem to find any.

We used 420N of force for the Brinell if that'll help?

Wolfram alpha has figures. Can't paste from mobile

The heat treatment (tempering/annealing etc.) is just as important to the HVN number as the material itself.

The physical location of the quenching process will also affect the hardness. Look up Joimney end quench test.

Matweb will have values for you and recommended forces to use for HVN brinnel etc. You do need to know the exact heat treatment. If not, do the heat treatment your self.
I could help with the aluminium and steel for recommended heat treatment procedures but the rest, you're on your own!

Yup. A sample Jominy end quench test will show you how the piece cools.

You also have to consider the grain size in the test pieces.

Kinda late now. Assignment has been handed up almost 7 months ago...
