Hi, recently bought two vases at an antiques auction...they were so dirty you could barely see them when I bought them but they were cheap so I took a chance...they seem pretty old and have these hallmarks on the bottom of them...
Does anyone know if they are Chinese or Japanese?..I'd like to know a little more about them if possible. Thanks.

Based on the font style, it looks Japanese to me. The 3 characters in the middle are the name of the maker, the 2 characters on the side read "19" (it could represent anything, the age of the maker, batch number, the year it was made....

Note, the Japanese characters goes vertically (which means you were holding it wrong).
