    Hi guys,

I've just purchased a timber ranch style gate, (see photo). I like the natural colour of the wood and wood be looking to preserve the wood with a clear type preservative. Could you suggest the best way to achieve this? Someone suggested to me Ronseal Total clear Wood Preserver but I wanted to get some advice on here first.

    Many thanks.

I used Sadolins clear coat on new wood once and it was hopeless. It started peeling after a year. In general the pigmented finishes will give more protection.
