I sat there yesterday and saw Rossom and Aidan pick out winning horses at ridiculous prices and I gotta ask how the hell do ye guys do it? I know hours of research go into it and it's a lot of work but is there anywhere in particular people start when weighing up a race or is a lot of it just from experience and gut instinct?

For me and Aidan yesterday Tatenen is a horse we've both been following for a while and we both knew he was very well handicapped. The handicapper was nuts to drop him 16lb for runs in the Grand National and Bet365 Gold Cup over mammoth trips he had no chance in staying and I still can't believe he was 40s on Friday night.

With regards to where I would start looking, I generally scan through the cards and look for horses I know well and I'll try and base the race using them as a focal point. I just find it helps me gauge the race as a whole.

I use oddschecker to get the odds and use the Racing Post for going through the form (the free service) as I don't think you need anything else. I'd also watch quite a bit of racing and would add plenty of horses to my horse tracker that have caught my eye for one reason or another.

I definitely wouldn't have an exact science of how about I go doing things but I'd always try and find value in races.

A day when I've got a fair amount of free time I might post up my overall evaluation of a race and the reason why I'd rule out horses in a race as some may find that useful.

Just to add to Rossoms comments. Handicaps are mine fields, they will generally have a portion
Of horses which are not out to win. It's those horses which under perform that have performed to a much higher mark in the past to keep track for future races if you want to see big prices on horses. Sometimes you come across scenarios when handicappers make mistakes or
Bookies are plain stupid pricing e.g. The 40-1 available on tatenen and barizan in June last year being priced up at 20's despite having consistent form
Coming into the race. It's no surprise both horses went off much shorter. Rossom
Mentioned odds checker. When you identify a potential
Plot horse like this a good sign is if all prices are blue from
    The bookies meaning the
Price is shortening. Generally the good
    Prices don't last very long
    So it's good to
    Study these the night before
