its very easy to make one , and old saucepan drill 3 inch hole in the middle of it and a 3 inch long ,1/2 round pipe with one end ground down with a sharp edge , weld the round end of the pipe into the center of the saucepan hole , weld a simple handle and now you have a soil sample , make sure u have wee bags to store each field or paddock

Walked across the field in a W pattern and took skelps 4-6 inches deep with the shovel. Mixed them up and sent about 300g samples per field. The lab will tell you how much you need.

Teagasc €25 per sample €20 for discussion group.
Do you have to deliver to lab for €12 test?

have used ias and fba in the past. happy with both except find fba seem to give very high readings for lime requirement. a friend said the same. he tested 3 fields 3 years ago and were ok for lime with ias. retested this year with fba and needed 5 t lime per acre. ???

Plus postage which can be expensive as soil is heavy!
