It is a Christmas present for my wife. She is very much a beginner but I want to get her a good one. What would you recommend? Budget probably €150-€200.

Have a look at the Lightening Deals on amazon.co.uk. There's been a week of them & and I think they're ending tomorrow (Sunday). There were several cameras on offer. All the compact ones were reduced to around £90.00. Free delivery to Ireland.
