this sounds a bit sad and weird

None of my friends are drinkers and i am so on one friday/Sat before xmas im going to go out on my own pub crawl/piss up because in the past i used to go out the saturdays before xmas with my girlfriend but we broke up and most of the people i knw have work partys/ dinner dances etc.

Xmas is all about the drink but its tough when youre all alone

So is having my own night of drink and festive fun a good idea

Getting drunk alone is a sure sign of alcoholism.

So remember to bring your dog with you.

You'll be grand. There might even be other people in the pubs too

Bring your Android, it looks like your texting friends when your reading the paper- after a couple of handy ones you will chat to the wall. Either way fck it, who cares??

I'd have no bother drinking on my own in any pub but at Xmas it's a tiny bit different. Looking at everyone having fun while sitting at the bar playing with your phone looking for the number of rent a friend.

If you feel comfortable doing it then go ahead. Lets be honest you're here looking for approval, not advice. Do what you feel like! :)

Just don't end up as the fella in the corner talking to his pint and all will be well.

Or OP you could do activities that dont revolve around alcohol. Im a twenty something and a ton of my friends dont drink. I dont drink really either. People respect you, if you can talk to someone without being **** faced. There is nothing worse than having some drunk **** thinking their hilarious, when they arent in a bar.

And if you aren't enjoying it, sure you can just feck off home and not have to make any excuses to anyone

It is? Damn. I knew I'd been missing something all these years ...

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. yeah, but you can't roll up a drinking buddy and kill flies with him.

Ah come on lads and lasses, the OP is brave to do a pub crawl on his own at Xmas time. I'd be mortified going to the 2nd pub nevermind one. Ain't easy drinking on your own when there is no-one to talk to! :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,330 ✭✭✭Gran Hermano

Meh, just find a pub popular as a mid way point for the 12 pubs brigade.
If you join a group of berks in Christmas jumpers and tag along theyll probably adopt you.

Going for a couple of quiet pints on your own to read the newspaper or a book or watch a match is grand.

Going on a xmas pub crawl on your own is a bit sad.

The black dog will come and visit you first thing in the morning when you realise you drank 6 drinks too many. He's not a very nice doggie though.
He goes away once I start drinking again though so it's not all bad...

That reminds me of health ed in school, we were told that and then we were asked what you would do if you found a friend drinking alone, 1 lad put his hand up and replied "eh, I'd join him"

Solved alcholism right there and then!

    +1.
Nothing I like more than a wander in to town with a book or newspaper for company, find a quiet pub and nestle in the corner for a few pints.

But a solo pub crawl? No ta.

Most of the people on here are actually real people. They go to a real pub, meet and drink until they collapse. It's fairly straightforward really. Here's one http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057091591
