Using an eircom Zyxel router to extend my coverage

Hi there. I live in a concrete house and, because we have BBand from UPC, the accesspoint and router are beside the tele in a corner of the house. That combination means that the coverage across the house is crap. I believe you can extend the signal by using another router and I have one here - an old eircom Zyxel model from a mate. However, that's as far as I've gotten. If anyone can explain how I use this new router to extend the coverage I'd be grateful - step-by-step idiot-proof instructions would be great. Thanks a million
