IPod connection options MKV golf

The ipod connection on my MKV '06 golf has stopped working and I'm looking for advice on the best replacement. The radio is the standard RCD300. When it was last serviced I looked into getting it replaced but according to the dealer VW don't make the parts anymore (?!) and using the part number of the existing connection they could try and order in the part from another dealer up the country...

As things have moved on a lot since I had the last one was fitted a few years ago so does anyone have any recommendations, ideally for a standard ipod connection with bluetooth I could pair with my phone? I'm on the road a lot with work lately and the radio drives me nuts...as do the transmitter type connections which require retuning every 50kms :p Thanks!

I used to have a Mk5 golf which is pretty much the same as the mk6 underneath. I installed an rns510 unit. Hard drive is built in along with lots of other goodies such as say nav. I bought a 2nd hand unit for 500 on eBay and when I changed cars I whipped it out and sold it for 500 again to a guy over on vagdrivers.net
It's a great unit and will plug and play straight into your car with no fuss. You would fit it yourself in under an hour no hassle.

A great piece of kit all round. I've yet to see something that offers as much as it..
