My mothers car needs two new headlight units (04 Skoda Superb). There is 50 quid in the difference between buying the light from a skoda dealer and getting a pattern part at the motor factors. Is the original part worth the extra 100 euro?

    Yes.
Why dose she need two new lamps?
If they are only gone faded/foggy they could be restored.

The seals on the old ones perished. There a lot of condensation/green on the inside of the glass. NCT failed the car on it saying the headlamps arent up to scratch.

Ah ok. They could be split and cleaned and resealed if you had the time yourself.

If it was my own car I would but the mother wont let anyone other than a mechanic do it so it ll have to be replacements.

First of all find out what is the the manufacturers make of the original Lamps, if for instance the original equipment maker is Bosch and a Motor Factor is quoting you for Bosch as fitted to most German cars and trucks first day you are getting a good deal. Valeo is of the same top original equipment quality. Motor factors all over Ireland are supplying first class quality lamps at much lower prices than Main Dealers.

Can you imagine what price you would have to pay for replacement parts if Motor Factors did not exist.

    PS
By the way the brand name Hella is another original equipment name of the highest quality fitted to many makes first day and is widely available from Motor Factors.

Depo are considered to be a step down from the likes of Bosch or Valeo. I'd pay the extra here.

Tbh id be Paying the extra for genuine units. Depo are no where near as good Imo.

If it was me though id still be splitting the lamps and re-sealing with tiger seal. Or if you didn't want to go to that hassle you could put a very small drain hole in the bottom of each lamp(if plastic)to prevent condensation build up.:)
