    Surely it's just the upgrade done to the 8100/8300 DARTs, but to the nth degree?

    While it might be 50% cheaper, does it still have 50% of the life or longer of a new EMU?

    To be fair, it may have a lot to do with the way the UK railway system orders new stock, making life extensions more attractive to lessors if it is their call to do them.
