    Hello all,
Mrs Ericsinjun has a Citroen c4 1.6 diesel. Last week or so the fan had been on full bore on high heat and can't be turned down or off.
I'm working away so only have this description of the fault.
Anyone any ideas what the problem might be?
She did bring it to a garage, who after much toing and froing, figured out what it wasn't!!?
    Thanks.

DIY is a do it yourself forum so this thread is good in main Motors.

So issue is the the cabin heater fan is always on?
    Always on highest setting?
And always on full heat setting?

"She did bring it to a garage, who after much toing and froing, figured out what it wasn't!!?"
I don't understand this sentence, what did they rule out?

Hello Biko, thanks for the reply.
The first part yes, yes and yes.
    Exactly.
Sorry if unclear. Apparently put the diagnostic computer on it , reckoned it needed part x, they went ahead and got part x, tried to fit it, was the wrong part. They then got the correct part, fitted it but didn't resolve the problem.
This all happened right after a service, which by all accounts was shabby enough, and taking into account the messing with this issue, Mrs E is disinclined to go back to them.
I don't have much more information as I'm away.
    Thanks again.

Does the car have automatic climate control, by any chance? Cabin temperature sensor?

    Thanks jimgoose,
I'm sure it doesn't. It is a dual zone type, but the controls are manual. No amount of button pushing and knob twisting has any effect.

It sounds then like the controls are fecked, as in got stuck on high settings.
It's probably not the knobs themselves but somewhere behind the dash that controls these settings.

Unfortunately diagnosing car issues is sometimes a hit and miss, you suspect something and change a part only for it to still have issues.

Try another garage or even a dealer if all else fails. A dealer may be better if you can't find someone who knows these cars really well (considering a garage already made a mistake).

    Thanks Biko,

I think she's for booking it in to main dealer now. Though a hefty estimate might change her mind there!
I'll check the connections if it doesn't go in.
    Thanks agai.
