    Hi all,

Long time lurker here and just took the plunge on a gameboy micro in adverts. Can anyone tell me where I can get proper (not adhesive) cover/face plates for the game boy micro? my new gaming beast is badly scratched and needs some pimping.

also, would people agree that the classics collection (mario/zelda) are faithful to the original snes creations?

    thanks

Now, faceplates are going to be tricky proposition, in Europe at least they never gained traction here.
I'd try the various regions of ebay and see what comes up.
    But it's a fine machine.
I might suggest a GBA:SP as well, as that will play the entire GB catalogue, while the Micro is unfortunately limited to Gba games only.

You really should pick up Warioware as well, stunning game and packs a challenge that's almost indefinite.

The SNES ports to GBA aren't great. If the games aren't from nintendo they aren't that good. Stuff like the FF ports have horrible music compared to the SNES and some censoring as well. Link to the Past is a goodport but it doesn't look as good as the SNES version, just much prefer it on the SNES. Yoshi's Island has some stuff cut as well.

I think for the SNES ports you are better getting the snes games down the line unless you get a good deal on them. Plenty of other great GBA games to get in the mean time. Be sure to pick up the 3 Castlevania games.

thats a bit of a pity. Took Ciderman's advice and picked up a GBA:SP while I was at it. Now I know that gives me a bigger back catalogue, but what are the highlights that I can enjoy from the snes/nes era? my fav games from that era were mario 1, mario 3 & zelda LTTP

Look, they are not perfect copies by any stretch but they are still a lot of fun.
It's well worth collecting the Super Mario Advance series, they are not in chronological order but they are all there, and are a lot of fun.
If it helps I picked up a flash cart for the GBA and, through it, was able to play Gameboy, Gameboy Color and Nes games on the Micro, which is all kinds of cool.
The SP is superb, but there are those here who prefer the original GBA's form, at least in comfort terms.

right, i got me the hardware (micro & SP) and now I need some solid game recommendations. I have the mario advance 1 & 4. i love 4, but have 1 (similarly i regard zelda 2 as a similar divergence from series as mario 2 and i also dislike that).

are the 2 snes mario ports in any way worth picking up? i'm having a hard time imagining that they would be faithful ports considering the snes was a fairly advanced system.

after mario what are the other great 'retro' hits that people recommend?

The Super mario world port on on the GBA is excellent. As much as the original soundtrack and all

There's a nice Sega Arcade Hits cart with a neat little cut down version of Outrun included.
The Sonic games are well worth picking up.
Castlevania , several releases, as well as the two Metroid games are must haves.
There are several excellent Zelda titles too.
And make the next game bought be the most awesome Mario Kart, it is fantastic.
There is also a Bubble Bobble port that's definitely worth getting, though they built it from scratch as they lost the source code.

Anyone that doesn't have ninja cop/ninja 5-O in their Gameboy Advance collection isn't a real collector.

There's a cart only version on ebay at the moment for about €60.
