Ok so it turns out i have a few days to so something with next week! i was thinking of hoping on an Aer Lingus flight to Munch and head to one of the resorts with a train transfer. The only reason i was going through munich is the discussions earlier on baords and it looks like a handy way of getting around.

Does anyone know if you can get a train direct from the airport to the resorts?

Looking at some resorts they have just opened - does anyone have any good reports on where has had good early season snow?

    Thanks in advance folks.

Peace; There is a serious amount of good snow around right now, Mayrhofen is accessible from Munich with one train transfer Munich - Jenbach – Mayrhofen. I was in Hintertux last week, and conditions were super. Mayrhofen is open fully this weekend.

Garmisch – Train direct from Munich

Car Hire there is tons of resorts, within a couple of hours drive.

Yep been seeing stuff about heavy snow falls during the week. I took a look at Mayrhofern but the lifts aren't open. Is there anywhere which tells me whats gonig to be open next week?

Savage stuff lad. I'm only concerned about turning up and there would only be 2 lifts open. I'd be bored after a day!

Yep all Lifts in Mayrhofen open from the 30.11.13, the Kroll's just came back to me Half way up his shins at the top of the Penken outside his bar today!!!!

Based on the that and the conditions in Hintertux last week you could ski to the village, so I am pretty sure 80% of the terrrain in Mayfhofen will be open.

If the conditions stay like they are & Ramsau is open get down there incredible powder tree skiing covered on the Ziller pass.

Ok you've sold me. Any reccomendation for local ski school (boarding) or guide? I'm going solo so ski school would be a good way of meeting others.

Best Ski School and guides in the resort IMHO is http://www.skimayrhofen.com/

Have a look around the bars and stuff there will be a lot of seasoi arres with a lot of time on their hands at this time of the year, resorts vets will be cheaper than local guides.

    Off Piste

The Area between 7 and 27 facing towards the Unterbergalm lift is pretty sweet, through the trees off blue run 2, through the barriers at the side of the Hari Kari and under the 150 person Tux Gondola. Warning under the 150 Gondola is severely avalanche prone! But once they have blasted it, it is super sweet.

Best Places to eat on the Hill - Pizza place right beside the board Park best Pizza ever, the Restaurant on Run 7 that looks like a Tipi is pretty good. The Deli opposite the lift is incredible and cheap for end of day

In the village Apres in the Ice bar and Moes and Scotland yard for afters.

Get up to the glacier if you get a clear day and if you get a chance Jump on the train to the other resorts.

The tourist Board has tons of Apartments on line, for accommodation and Pensions. A lot of the hotels will be good value this time of the year!

Lovely stuff. Got everything booked since this morning. This ole internet is the job.

Been to the Ice bar before so will definately stop in in and soak up the atmosphere. The last time i was in Mayrhofern it was my first ever trip and we only really did 2-3 runs. This time should be different as i'll be happy on the reds and should start in the park.

Thanks for teh rest of the tips. Looking forward to the pizza!
