Bank Holidays

    Hi,
Can someone explain. I'm employed full time 40 hours a week. The shop I work in opens on BH from 12-6. We also open every Sunday. Both are time and a half.

If I DO NOT work it I get paid 8 hours.

    If I DO work it I get paid 6 x 1.5 = 9 hours.

Should I also get paid 8 hours when I do work it (i.e. 17 hours total)?

I've read the revenue site but can't make sense of it.

    Thanks!

Lets just say you get €500 a week and this includes the 8 hours for bank holiday. If you work the bank holiday you should get the additional 9 hours pay.

Ahh, my understanding is that if you work the bank holiday, you should get paid for that day, and also an additional day off some other time.

Built into my salary are 4 BH payments per year (6 x 1.5), my colleague works the other four (closed on Xmas Day).

Nothing has been said of the BH I don't work.

So of the 9 BHs in total. Should I be getting

    4 payments of 6 x 1.5 hours.

Plus 9 payments of 8 hours? Or just 5 payments of 8 hours (i.e. the ones I don't work)
