How are light weanlings going folks? I have 5 or 6 230-250 kg lmx weanlings left and would like to know what they're going or what I should be getting. Nice quality, will make good cattle. Thanks)

I saw a couple of awful light weanlings around 150kg heifers (think they were blue angus, too small to be BBX) and they were struggling to reach €300 on last Friday.

Bought some 220 kg heifers for ~€475. Continentals from suckler herds.

If you do a google for mart reports, it'll give you a few ideas on price. Here's an example of last week's prices in Connacht Gold:
Lots under 300kg making from 250 to 510 over.....Eg BBx
    290kg...800....CHx 295kg...785...LMx 215kg...705

So the lowest price weinling heifer made €250 over it's weight. eg. 250kg made €500. The best heifer weinling made €510 with her weight. eg 290kg made €800.
Sold weinlings myself last week and that was about the price of them. Good demand for a good quality calf both CHX and LMX.

Why oh why have people not moved to €/kg and not this €€€ over malarkey....

Does not make sense at all but then maybe it is just me :(

This is the way that marts feed prices to media. No point in me converting it for to quote it here and then directing people back to the media release where it is still €€€ over.

Why do people move to €/kg?

I know where you are coming from in general but just don't agree with the principle.

€/kg makes it easier to compared stock at first glance and also takes into account weight better. Big difference on 200 over for a 300kg bullock and a 600kg one for example.

Back to the topic in hand, not many of these stock down our side but any that were about were poor enough price wise and struggling to get more than €2.20kg.

FR's were going through at little more than calf price!

I was only joking - €/kg is much easier to follow - I do agree!
