    Hi,

I am about to purchase a new LED tv from Pc World. My question is, will I be able to tune in the UK channels as well as the Irish channels on my new tv?

    Kind Regards,

    Gary.

For UK channels you will need a (FTA) Free To Air box, or a Freesat box! failing that, you may get UK Freeview channels if you live along the border with NI. You might also pick up Freeview channels along small parts of the East coast from Wales (not guaranteed at all).

Best bet is to get a cheap box and choose between FTA or Freesat.

Have you decided which TV you will buy? Some have an integrated satellite tuner that will get you the UK channels anywhere in Ireland you can connect to a suitable dish.

If the TV is terrestrial-only then, as mentioned already, UK reception outside of NI will be very limited.

Quick answer no, but a slight chance yes.

If you live in a border county you may be able to get a signal from northern Ireland, or from Wales etc. If not you can always get the UK channels for free via a dish. Most TVs do not have a connection for a dish (some do) so most people use a seperate box for the UK channels.

So the questions being asked are where do you live, have you ever watched UK channels via an aerial in that area and do you have a dish already? Finally which TV are you thinking of buying?
