    Hi,

Has anyone bought a 3ds game from game.co.uk and used the download option where they email you the ethos code to enter on your 3ds? They couldn't confirm whether they would work in Ireland so I don't want to go pay out if it doesn't work.

Yes, both 3ds and wiiu, both fine, no messing needed with eshop region

Note: they email the code, you don't get the cool gift card they show on the site

They'll work. May take up to 24 hours if paying by paypal cos they manually process those transactions! Takes a couple of hours if paying straight with a card. :)
edit: if you purchase the code before midnight there's a bug that may result in you not getting any Digital Promo points for it even though you're supposed to, and it takes forever to sort out with Nintendo Customer Service so if this is important, I'd recommend waiting :/

So when I do get the code and its after around 10pm I should wait until the morning to redeem it?

The Digital Promo thing - are you talking about the WiiU Premium rewards scheme?
If so, doesn't affect the 3DS.

Bear in mind, for pre-orders and such you get the code before the download is active on the eShop, don't freak out when the shop won't accept your code!

Launch day for 3DS titles (presume WiiU is the same but haven't bought a prerelease yet) starts at Midnight, German time, so you can usually download at 11pm the day before the game is out in the shops. Which is great unless the game is launched on a Saturday and all the irish shops break release date. Isn't that right, Pokemon?

Also worth noting - if you pre-order an eShop download you often get an eShop bonus download (eg Links Awakening with the new Zelda, Pokedex pro with the new Pokemon games etc) - this means they mail you a code for your bonus download immediately, so they take full payment immediately and you can't cancel your pre-order.

Good to know though, for the sake of getting a 60 minute head start on anyone queuing outside a shop it's not worth it. Nintendo Support tend to get the job done eventually and can be very nice about it but dear christ they're slow.

Also, it's very difficult to lug your WiiU all the way down to a HMV and lord it over people queuing for a midnight release, where as the 3DS is a piece of piddle :)
