    Hi...does anyone out there know what tax band 'w' means on an irish payslip?...appreciate any info

    W on a payslip usually indicates a week one basis. It's not a tax band, it's a basis for operating PAYE. It's almost the normal cumulative basis but not quite.
    Week one can be applied by Revenue when they are missing some information for the current tax year.

    Check with Revenue if you are on a week one basis and how you get off it.

    No, but you might be due back tax from earlier in the year

    ye thats right..started new job early oct...been on emergency tax til this wk ...now on tax band 'w'..and no tax back.

    Revenue stop issuing tax credit certs around the 10th of December so unless you can get put on the normal (cumulative) basis in the next week or so, it will be January before you can look for a refund from Revenue.
