    Well Chaps
    Just wondering does any1 know what the story is when it comes to quota for organic milk?? Is it easily accessible for a new entrant and is there any grants for conversion. Thanks for your help :)

    New entrant scheme is finished but then again so are quotas in 18 months so if you want to get into milk all you need is access to around €175k to get you started (this was the average amount invested by farmers in the new entrants scheme) and away you go on 1st Apr 2015. It'll take you that long to get going from a standing start today anyway.

    Is the price any good for organic milk ? The last time I heard the price I thought it was never worth producing .

    Depends who's buying it , glenisk want winter milk ,you'd want good land and excellent management to make a go of it .., find out who's organic dairy nearest you and go chat... Ain't easy though ..,

    I did a bit of investigation a few years ago and reckoned I would be aswell at normal milk . Glenisk is a bit far away from me for collection and id say they arent short for suppliers either if they want them

    Lad in Wales milking 250 cross breeds. All organic. He had some grass

    What time of year was that then ?? Probably not febuary march if hade loads of grass !!
