A course which is online with some study days costs €317 more if you pay in Euro than if you pay in Sterling. It costs €1590 if you pay in Euro or if you pay in Sterling £1080 which works out as €1273 today. So, by paying in Euro it costs you €317 more. Either way many people from Northern Ireland end up coming to Dublin for the study days. They sit beside people from the Irish Republic who have paid €317 more for the same thing.

Can I pay in Sterling too?
How can I get the cheaper rate?

Try, and report back to us. I suspect the currency they apply when it comes to you paying online will be tied to the address though.

As someone suggested, I'd seriously consider using Parcel Motel to avail of the cheaper rate. Or just give your irish address but use the British postcode mentioned in BA.

Also your currency calculations are off, don't use xe.com for currency conversion, google 'Ulsterbank fx rates'. It works out at about €1350, plus you have to factor in possible cross boarder fees and actual FX fees. It's still would be cheaper for you to pay by sterling, but not as cheap as you'd think.

    OP

are you sure it isn't more about where you are resident than simply an optional currency?

There could be different subsidies/breaks on the cost in the UK as opposed to here for example.

May have to do with VAT, although I think educational products/services could be 0% in Ireland.

having a study day doesn't mean you have to goto a specific location to study …. study can be done at home … just like an online course.

you sarcasm is not very nice/appropriate I asked a question - a valid question.

You didn't read the post! A study day were they basically meet up and erm, well study! Maybe a place to go and check how their work is coming on. Meet face to face. Give some pointers. Have a cup of tea, maybe even a ham and cheese sandwich. If all goes well maybe some will leave together and go fondle each other.

Ah here, the OP specified that they get together in the same place for the study days. Your first post comes across as someone who barely read the OP.

And your question isn't even valid or related to the question that the OP asked.

If this is the Open University you'll be expected to provide a valid and in-use National Insurance number to get the Sterling rates, as they're cheaper due to subsidy - particular the Nordie rates which are massively cheaper than the English ones even.
