It's a big car for a 1.6. Sat in once as a taxi and was very impressed with it as a car to be in. Other than that I'm no help but I'm sure others will be.
I really hope they put the 407 reliability issues to bed in this.

    If it's the auto box from the 3008 I wouldn't bother. It's really sh1t.

    Yup - sums it up.

Engine is pretty decent in the car, but that gearbox is truly awful.

Is it one of the pseudo auto-manual clutched transmissions?

Single clutch with a French computer controlling when to change it.

Doesn't change when you'd like it to, but changes when you don't want it to.

Foot flat to the floor? No - that doesn't work.

Lift off when it should change? No - that doesn't work.

Steady speed on a motorway? Yeah - works there.

Don't mean to hijack thread but just to broaden it a little. Has anyone any feedback on the manual 1.6 508? I think they are a fine looking car and was wondering about reliability and niggles now that the fiurst of them is coming up to 3 years old.

We have a few on fleet and I don't think we've had any issues. Drove one down to Cork and back last month (Drogheda-Dublin-Cork-Dublin-Drogheda so 700km's ish) and was pretty impressed.

Miser on fuel at M50/M1 rush hour speeds, but that drops off quite a lot when you get to 120km/h (or more). Was pleasantly surprised that there is some performance when you put your foot down at 120 - most other 1.6 diesel I've driven do very little when you try that.

Only started to get a numb bum around Naas on the way back, so the seats are pretty good. Cruise/Climate/Elec Windows/USB/MFSW all standard on the one I drove that I think was a mid range model (active). Also had the full panoramic sunroof as it was the SW.

Might be a decent used buy, if you are planning on holding on to it for a while, but make sure the service schedule has been followed religiously as that 1.6 engine doesn't like it when you go over the 20k intervals.

Yes I have to agree with the autobox . I thought it was like the handbrake been applied at each change up ?? But thought it was just that Eco ****e thing that cuts the engine off while stopped applying the most economical change up if this makes any sense .
Kia optima a better option ?

Optima is a great looking car, and the engine is better than the 1.6HDi in the Pug, but I found the seats appaling. No support, couldn't get comfy, and my head was brushing off the roof if I leaned even slightly forwards. Was really glad I didn't have to drive the Optima for too long or too far, it was that uncomfortable. Dash layout/plastics also aren't quite up to European standards.

Seats in the i40 are much better than the Optima, but it does use the less powerful version of the same engine.
