rescan problem on Humax T2

I retuned my Humax HDR T2 a few weeks ago as the serial link was not working on RTE. 1. When I retuned, neither 800 or 801 showed a EPG. There was a message on 801 saying rescan required. I found a full RTE.1 EPG on 818 so I set the series record on this and it worked
A few days ago the link stopped working so today I retuned and still 800 and 801 are blank and the first full RTE.1 EPG available is 820, 818 and 819 are gone.
My aerial is pointed at 3 rock. Is anyone else having this problem as it is a puzzle to me

Have this box too. Possibly try a manual scan. For the Three Rock frequencies, do channel 33 (mux 2) first as RTE1 HD is on this. Then do a scan on channel 30 for mux 1. You can delete the duplicates if you wish.

I did all you suggested but I still got the same result. 801 has RTE1 but no EPG AND IT SAYS UNKNOWN but I get it on HD with full EPG on 820. ALSO THERE ARE A LOT OF STATIONS TUNING IN, SHOWING UNKNOWN . I am getting the same results whether on manual or auto tuning I tried 30 and 33.

Below is the current channels carried on each multiplex. Your box is storing the channels as they're found starting with Mux1 and then moving to Mux2 and in no particular order from 800 upwards as the Saorview LCN order is ignored because it sees them as out of region/non-UK channels.

For example on 801 it stores the temporary RTÉ1 SD simulcast channel which carries no channel name and no epg data hence the reason it's described as UNKNOWN on your box, temporary SD channels RTÉjr and RTÉ1+1 on this multiplex will be described the same way. On a Saorview receiver these channels are auto-stored at LCNs 11, 17 and 18. The new HD version of RTÉ1 is on Mux2, so the channels on that Mux are stored after the Mux1 channels 820 in your case.

The other "Unknown" channels are the testcards on Mux2, they also have no channel name or epg data.

I have had this unit over a year and the stations had always stored from 800 on so I guessed that when I retuned as recommended by Saorview they would stay at the first decade of the 800's. I have now deleted all unknown channels between 800 and 820 so to make channel hopping easier. Thanks for the charts and reasons for my problem. Thanks

Apologies haymur. It's a couple of months since I did this so I tried it again. Deleted all Saorview channels, and did what I told you above, and I got channels in the wrong order too! :o....

Tried again. First delete all Saorview channels. You need to scan mux 1 first in manual scan. Also make sure network search is set to off.

So for Three Rock, scan channel 30 first. (In Dundalk I've used the Clermont Carn frequencies, 52 & 56, to do this).

    Save the channels. The following are stored: 800 SSU, 801 Unknown, 802 RTE2, 803 TV3, 804 TG4, 805 RTE News Now, 806 3e, 807 Unknown, 808 Unknown. Delete channels 800, 801, 807 & 808 and save the changes.

Go back into manual scan and scan for mux 2 on 33 for Three Rock. The following are saved & stored: 800 SSU, 801 RTE1, 807 Unknown (HD), 808 Unknown, 817 Unknown (HD), 818 Unknown, 821 RTEjr, 822 RTE1+1.

Delete 807 to 818 if you want to go direct from 3e to RTEjr. Also delete 800 (SSU) if you want.

Mr Cumulonimbus do you also get UK Freeview channels?
you can move your Saorview channels down to the 300 by doing the following steps. this will only work when you want to delete a channel from the list.
    i.e. SSU channel.
Select the SSU channel, press OPT+ then press down to Delete, confirm delete and enter your passcode, usually 0000, press enter then all the channels in the 800 will drop down to 304, after the last number of Freeview, if no Freeview, then it will go down to 1.

    Check your AD setting,
You will see the AD button on the remote, press til you see AD is off.
Saorview does not use AD as yet so that is why no audio when selected.

Souriau, yes I have Freeview reception. Trying this but it's not working. I've gone into edit channels, ticked the box of a channel I want to delete, and the pressed the OPT+ button. What should happen then? What do you mean by "press down to delete"?

    Is your PVR a Humax HDR-Fox T2?

OK, Don't go into the Menu setting.
Select a channel that you want deleted.
i.e 206 Sky Text or something else, 800 SSU
Once the channel change and is on live viewing
Press OPT+ the pop up menu will show, then select Delete then enter your passcode, 0000 and confirm, this will delete one channel only and then it will go to BBC1 at location 1.
Then you will find your Saorview channels also moved down from 800s to 300s

    Good.
Next time you do a rescan, the Saorview channels will go back to 800 range.
In the menu setting, edit your channels to be deleted and just leave 1 channel you like to delete alone. Confirm the selected channels for deletion and come out of the menu system.
Select the channel you like to delete and wait it change and is on live viewing
then press OPT+ button to do your final delete of that channel. Then all the channels in the 800 range will move down to the next highest number available. i.e. 304 or if no Freeview channels, then it will gp down to 1.

Souriau, just noticed that RTE 2 is at 304, after Red Button HD at 303. I thought that RTE1 would be at this position, but for some reason it's been pushed down the channel order to 309 after 3e. Don't why this should happen.

I don't know why there is no edit LCN feature on this PVR.
Yes, it just move the channels down in same order in the 800 range
What you can do is, manual scan Mux 2 first and then Mux 1, then follow the above procedure to get channels down from 800 range.

Yes, some sort of LCN edit feature would be nice. Tried what you suggested and moved them into the 300s. RTE1 is now at 304, but RTEjr and RTE1+1 are ahead of RTE2, TV3 and TG4 in the channel order. Bizarre how this reordering is occurring upon transfer. I think I'll leave them in 800s to have them in sequence. Always fun experimenting though!:).

Audio description will be coming to RTÉ in due course. They published a tender back in Sept for the infrastructure to support the broadcast of AD content.
