Ethernet Port not Working

    Hi all,
Yesterday I accidentally knocked my computer's power plug out of the wall while it was in sleep mode. When I turned back on a blue screen came up and it said the computer didn't shut down correctly and it was checking everything was OK, when I logged on to my account the internet wasn't working and when I looked at the back of my computer the ethernet cable was in but the orange light wasnt on. I use on of these:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-PA411KIT-AV500-Powerline-Adapter/dp/B0084Y9N3O/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1385571982&sr=8-2&keywords=av500+nano+powerline+adapter
and the powerline LED and the ethernet LED is off which means the adapter isn’t connected to any powerline network or
is in power-saving mode and the Ethernet port isn’t connected. I checked that its working by plugging the same ethernet cable into my laptop. If anyone has any idea how to fix it your help would be much appreciated. I am using a Asrock 970 extreme and windows 8

How did you manage this, it sounds like you gave all the wire a good pull and the pins are no longer touching. I really don't like the sound of this.

You may want to look into getting a cheap PCI Ethernet card.

You should try a driver uninstall and reinstall incase the driver was damaged or corrupted when the power went off . Check your bios always to see did it disable your Ethernet when your PC switched off .

    Would something like this
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TG-3269-Gigabit-Network-Interface/dp/B000FO6QWM/ref=cm_rdp_product
    be ok?

I couldn't find anything to do with ethernet ports in the bios, would it be under a different name or not there at all?

Would installing the latest drivers from the asrock website do this?

I would give the latest drivers from asrocks website a try . If the driver refuses to install it more the likely means a dead Ethernet port on your Mainboard . You should then buy a cheap PCI Ethernet card .
