    Hey,

my brother is coming home for Christmas so I need to buy him a present for once and he is impossible to buy for.

I decided to give him a mixed 6 pack of Irish beers so he wouldn't have to carry them all home but they need to be great... He has been living in Portland for the last 8 years so is rather spoilt but not a snob.

    So far I was thinking:

    Leann Folláin barrel aged
    Dungarven Oatmeal Stout
    O'Hara's IPA

Want to try the new 8 degrees back to blacks and may possible throw in a Dark Arts Porter.

What would be in your ultimate Irish 6 pack?

Is he into his beers much? most of my friends would probably not drink or at least not really enjoy most of the stuff mentioned, especially the stouts, and some of them are guinness drinkers. I have gotten a quite a few stouts handed over to me over the years by guinness drinkers.

Could be the safe option. Also many people prefer not to "mix drinks", for whatever reason, while I think its mad to stick to the same one in a pub with a big selection!

I believe Bazmo's post was ironic.

thought it might be, esp. as it was meant to be about a selection. but still think he might prefer it.

I think I still have 2 beers from a "selection" got for me, one of them a bottle of desperados...

I thought Of Foam & Fury wasn't being bottled until mid Jan?

it's not, but Brew Dock fills growlers.

Em, don't worry about that. I didn't expressly say but Portland, Oregon is the mecca of craft beer. While my brother does love the ole Guinesss now and again because they remind him of his teenage years, he appreciates well made, craft beers or else I wouldn't be trying to come up with a good beer selection for his birthday.

Also, given my initial list - do I really sound like I might be looking at sh**e like desperado?

Love my Stonewell but there will be some in the house for my boyfriend and my brother does not get the joy of cider :) - philistine :P

Instead of the regular O'Haras IPA, how about their new DIPA instead?
