MameUI or IV/Play

    Hi lads,

The GF is eager for me to dust off my 2 player X-Arcade stick so I'm getting MAME setup after a few years of an absence.

The last time I used it I was using MAME32. I see this has been superseded by MAMEUI and that there is also a frontend on top of that called IV/Play.

    Which is the better one?

I'll be hooking a laptop to the TV using HDMI and plugging he X-Arcade into the laptop.

    Thanks.

    :D

Well if you could give me a PS4 mega bundle on Friday I'd consider letting you take her off my hands. :P

Get a CRT television (you'd get one for free on adverts.ie fairly handy) and download Groovy Mame. It'll display the games right without tearing. Makes a world of difference.

What kind of cable would you need to hook up a pc to say a sony triniton crt ?

I used an old PC with a VGA to scart cable (cost a few euro). You have to set the resolution to 600x400 and potentially dick around a bit with refresh rates. Triniton should be a happy candidate though. Here's a ton of detail if you're interested. http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,116669.0.html
