I spotted this yesterday and it filled me with glee :D They're fairly tearing through the stretch goals.

Well this is not good news, wonder what will happen

Heroquest 25th Anniversary is the subject of an intellectual property dispute and is currently unavailable.

    GameZone Miniatures official statement:

Please bear with us. Gamezone and Moon Design are in a meeting negotiating a settlement for both parts at this time.

Moon Design believes that their interests in the HEROQUEST brand within the USA will be infringed upon. Although we are not distributing or selling our product in US territory. As a precaution Moon Design presented a C/D on the 27th of Nov. Our talks are coming to a point where the negotiation will benefit all those involved, which finally would let us offer our product in stores in the USA sometime next year.
The Moon Design C/D was suspended, but on the table, as another element in the negotiation. Here at Gamezone it is our hopeful understand that its activation is possibly by error as both parties where coming to an agreement. Said agreement would finally end beneficially for Fans in the USA by opening the physical distribution to stores in that country. This brief pause of activity is as harmful to the interests of Moon Design as it is to Gamezone Miniatures.

We are as surprised as the Heroquest community, we didn’t expect that on Thanksgiving, of all days, to be wrapped up in this mess, that is so disagreeable for everyone involved. On a day such as this it is extremely complicated to get in touch with Moon Design. We are working diligently on a solution so we can continue with the project from where it is at the moment and reinforce it for the future.

    Thank you. Dionisio

Well they found another kickstarting site, never hear of it but they kinda need a Spanish site to avail of the licensing loop-hole they are in. Also it apparently deducts your money immediately, not at the end like Kickstarter does. May be dodgy.

It's not dodgy, why on earth would you say that and what evidence or experiences are you basing this on? There are WAY more sites than Kickstarter and all legit.

Hasn't taken any money from me yet, but they have achieved almost 250% funding and the site says that they take funds when the project reaches it's 100%.

If you looked at the thread on DakkaDakka you'll see that it's been on a number of crowdfunding sites and has been pulled from each one for varying reasons, Kickstarter was just the first to shut it down.

In addition, the creators have consistently refused to answer certain backer questions about licensing, copyright and intellectual property.

More than just refusing to answer questions Gamezone have changed their story a couple of times. When they were originally promoting the kickstarter they claimed that they had been in contact with Hasbro and they had the go-ahead to reprint the game. But over the summer Moon Design (a US game company who currently hold the Trademark for "Heroquest" in the US) asked Gamezone to provide them with a written letter of permission from Hasbro for the reprint. Gamezone never replied to Moon Design and that's what eventually prompted the cease & desist letter which sunk the kickstarter back in november.

Currently the only legal rights Gamezone hold is the trademark for "Heroquest" in Spain which means they can make a product called "Heroquest" in Spain alone. The trademark only applies to the name 'heroquest' not the game itself. That doesn't mean they have any rights to the original boardgame itself.

I was delighted to hear about the Heroquest reprint and would have happily thrown money at the kickstarter but the vague & contradictory information kept me away. The way the project has been handled looks either inept or underhanded.

Over the weekend that the company Gamezone said were working on the miniatures stated that they have no involvment with the project and issued a denial on the DakkaDakka forums.
