Latest Music Update on Windows Phone

Hello. I have just installed updated on my windows phone which seemed to be primarily the Nokia music app update. The upshot is that I have lost my playlists! Very annoying. Also I find the whole music app quite awkard. Creating playlists seems to be a lot of hassle as I have to physically connect my phone to the laptop to create and edit playlists on the phone. Also I used to be able to choose any song on my android and make it my ringtone. With this phone I find it difficult to use songs as ringtones. again it requires be to connect to the PC to drop songs in to the ringtones folder on my phone and even at that they don't always work.
Can anyone out there recommend another way of navigating music on my phone? Or an easier way that I am stupidly missing?
    Thanks.

Download nokia ringtone maker to set your own songs as ringtone.

WRT the Nokia Music app, as far as I know it has curated playlists only and doesn't actually let you create your own. I could be mistaken on that since it's a while since I've used it.

Thanks Paulie. I didn't know the Nokia ringtone maker had that facility I'm not sure what i thought it did:).
The playlists thing; I used windows media player to create the playlists to transfer them over and it was very clunky to be honest. I used to be able to just choose a song on my phone and add to playlist without connecting it to a PC. I'm sure I'll eventually find some app or other to simplify it.
Thanks again for the info. Paulie

    Create a playlist
You can create custom playlists of your favorite music right on your Windows Phone and then save them for later.

    To create a playlist
    1. On Start, tap Music + Videos start-icon-music-videos.png, flick to Collection, and then tap Music.
    2. Tap and hold an artist, album, song, genre, or even an existing playlist, then tap Add to now playing to add the music to a temporary queue.
    3. To create the playlist, you'll need to open the now playing queue by doing one of the following:
      • On Start, tap Music + Videos start-icon-music-videos.png, flick to History, then tap the album art of what's currently playing (or paused).
      • Press either the Volume Up hardware-icon-volumeUP-button.png or Volume Down hardware-icon-volumeDWN-button.png button on the side of your phone. In the music control that appears at the top of the screen, tap the artist name.
    4. Under the album art, tap the song that's currently playing (or paused). This will take you to the now playing queue.
    5. Tap Save basic-icon-save.png, enter a name for your playlist, and then tap Enter keyboard-screen-more-key.png.

Tip You can tap the Select basic-icon-multiselect.png button to choose several songs, and then add all of them to the now playing queue at the same time.
