Hi guys, doing the dip at the moment for secondary teaching. My school pays teachers and dips for any classes they sub if a teacher is out. My first one was around the beginning of October, I've completed a few since, but havent been paid yet. Does anyone know if there is a specific time for getting paid or should I check if my details were registered. thanks

If you are not registered with the TC you won't get paid out of department funds for any subbing after November 1st.

It's usually every other week for subs, so this Thursday for post primary and next Thursday for primary. You need to check with the school if that have put in your details to payroll in the department of ed. Unregistered teachers are not supposed to have been paid from Nov 1 , however this has been extended until January . Check details on the teaching council website. There are some hdip:PDE students being registered now as part of the further education sector and these are being paid through this method in post primary. But from Jan this exception is gone , and everyone must be qualified and registered. Hope that helps.

Paydays are every second Thursday, tomorrow is one so maybe see if you get paid this week and if not then check with someone just to be safe!

Did the school ask you for your bank details?

Yeah, I handed them up nearly two months ago

Hmmm that sounds a bit strange well so as it's every fortnight that you should get paid. Unless they haven't sent in your hours yet for some reason, but two months is a long time after doing it to get paid.

hey guys back again. Ok I got paid thursday for the fist time two weeks ago. Another dip told me she thinks it every two months. She also said you get paid in bulk for yard duty before xmas, is that this week so, or next week. sorry for all the questions. Newbie here. so kind of confused.

Don't know if the dip is affecting things but I have worked with vec in the past and always worked a month in hand and then got paid monthly. Yard duty (or s&s) is paid in February as far as I know but if you are vec are you sure you'll be paid at all? What with signing up to HRA.

I'm not a VEC. I'm DES. I got paid two weeks ago for the first time. started doing the subbing in October. Im a full time dip like. started in september, working the whole year, every day.

You should get paid every 2 weeks for substitution so tomorrow should be a payday. I did my Dip last year and we got paid the days other teachers got paid. Didn't do any yard duty so I don't know how that gets paid!

    Apologies, thought you were vec
If des you should be paid fortnightly so, but I suppose that's dependant on your school putting through your subbing hours on time.
As for the yard duty, is that s&s? If so it'll be the new yr sometime - February or March even I think if at all (depending on next HRA ballot). If it's not s&s I'm not sure.

Irish eyes in January I would contact the department or email them to be 100% sure you will be getting paid after January. I wouldn't take the word of your college or school management! (No offence to them!)
