Hopefully it will be resolved before New Years, but a word of warning to anyone getting private transfers from Geneva.

I wouldn't worry too much it's been an on going issue for the past 3 years it's driven by the local Geneva Taxis that believe the mini buses are unfair and take their most lucrative business.

Last year there was a clamp down to ensure all trips were pre booked and it was short lived.

The alternative is the bus companies will pick up from the French side of the airport & the Swiss side retailers will go nuts.

All will end well the Swiss are nothing if not sensible

This story is almost a copy and paste of what was written in an article last year as well!!

Browndog82: Yep the basic deal is Geneva City charge a fortune for Taxi licenses; the drivers in turn charge a fortune, a 5 minute, cab ride to an airport hotel, is anywhere north of CHF 40!!!

The problem is the Taxi drivers are required to keep the airports business customers happy, if they strike there is an issue, there has been an extensive building project at the airport for the past 2 years developing short term parking and a shuttle bus collection and drop of point, which has affected the Taxi revenues. Essentially the Canton will step in and overrule, Geneva council and if not Bern will step in as there is an international deal between Switzerland and France and access from the airport.

The transfers for val D'isere seem very expensive, a family of 4, the flight return to grenoble is €340 the transfer to Val is €400 on Bens Bus !! I'm looking at renting a car but have never driven to a ski resort before.

Just an update on this lads, any company with an International Operators Licence or EU Community License, will have no issue operating from Geneva.

am i bovvered: Try the below, they tend to be a little cheaper and more competitive.

tech; Are you booking on a private basis? Or are they the prices for a shared transfer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,860 ✭✭✭tech

ideally private, but the shared is an option also were not fussy!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,208 ✭✭✭Fattes

Iwould be surprised if the shared transfer prices were that steep

working out at about 125 Per Person, for a Private transfer, Benbus seems to be 90e per person !!
