Using a HDMI source on a projector with Components/S-video/VGA connections

I'm buying a projector that has Component, S-Video, VGA connections only. What are my options for hooking up the following to this projector?

1) Xbox 360 - I think that there is a HDMI to Component cable that came with my xbox, so I assume this should work fine?

2) My tablet (it has a HDMI out port)?

3) My HDMI satellite box?

Would the HDMI to component cable that came with my xbox 360 work for the tablet + sky box too, or would I need something else? Thanks

I was looking at something like that too. I was doing a small bit of reading and it seems that some HDMI signals are encoded by HDCP (whatever that is) and that the converter will need to be capable of decoding HDCP signals to work at all. I'm a bit confused by the whole thing to be honest! Hopefully someone on here can help us out

Thats what is confusing me too yeah.
I just spent €99 on the projector and I can connect the xbox through the ordinary wires and the snes too but I only have HDMI cable for the PS3.

Hmmmm...I just spend €99 on mine too! I don't suppose it's an infocus IN1102?!

It's manufacturer refurbished and from an Irish seller. He sells lots of refurbished infocus projectors but this one is a good deal I think because the projector got a lot of good reviews. Pity no HDMI though.

I'm gonna try and call Swapkit, the company that sent it, ask them a few questions about a HDMI converter.

I like your's, its smaller than mine, I thought it would be about the same size as that one there but its pretty big

HDMI is all digital , and HDCP or High Definition Content Protection , is mandatory for the interface.

The signals you guys need are all analog , so Digital to analog conversion must take place at some point , hence the box one of you found on ebay.

There are plenty of "HDMI to Component or VGA Cables" around , all of them are fraudulent items , and cannot possibly work , if there is no conversion electronics its impossible for them to work.

The Xbox thing is an AV multiport to component , it looks a bit like a HDMI port but its not.

Now to the nitty gritty ,
In This and almost every other european country , deliberately circumventing any kind of copy protection is illegal under the DMCA ( Digital Millenium Copyright Act ) or its equivalent ( Electronic Commerce Directive ) in each member state.

Essentially what this means is that devices that change a HDMI signal to an analog signal are all of questionable legality, as you must strip away the HDCP or copy protection for them to work , and that is illegal.

As such , most of these devices are not only hard to find , but of dubious quality !

Popular ones are the HDfury 2 , which are not cheap , but apparently work , they are hard to get a hold of though , because of the above they are usually shipped from countries that dont have such strict rules.

So , now you see why those projectors were so cheap eh ? HDMI is widespread now , and projectors without HDMI are pretty much obsolete.

Well, I took a chance and bought this, and luckily it is working with everything I need it to, xbox, satellite box, tablet, media player. The picture quality is pretty good too.
