Unsuccessful telephone interview?

    Hi guys,

I applied for a job through a recruitment agency yesterday and they called me back today. After asking a few general questions the consultant said she will forward my CV to their client. Does that mean I have been politely rejected after the phone interview? Surely I would have been offered an appointment for a personal interview if they were really interested? I want to call her back and ask for feedback but I am a bit concerned to ruin my chances by seeming too insecure if they are going to continue with my application. Did anyone experience a similar situation and got invited for an interview eventually?

I think it means she was happy with you, found you suitable and has progressed you to the next stage = eg, for consideration to the client. They only assess your suitability and then pass you onto the client for proper interview (in my experience anyway) All good, well done and best of luck ;)

One of the functions of a recruiter is to filter out the best candidates from a large number of applications.
They will usually then send in several CVS that they believe match the job spec to the company.
Usually the Company will then filter this down to a number of candidates for first round interview (either face to face or Telephone).

I suspect they are saying that you have passed the first filter stage and your CV has been sent to the company.
I would say from experience about 10-15% of candidates sent through make it to the next stage (again depends on field ,number of applicants ,how efficient your recruiter is etc. )
