ABS sensor in mk IV Mondeo

I've a 2008 1.8 tdci diesel Mondeo and in wet weather the ABS and ESP lights come on, with a loss of cruise control and acceleration. I did get an independent guy to run a diagnostic and it came back with a faulty front left ABS sensor. I wouldn't mind ordering this and fitting it myself if I thought I wasn't a total pain…
