i am looking to do computer science after my leaving and am really confused where to go. i originally had my heart set on UCC but after some research decided to change to DCU.. now after looking again i really want to go to TCD i need some help.. Any opinions on where is best to go ? i know a lot of people say with computer science you do a lot yourself but where would i get the best help even if felt i was struggling with the course as i've not done a whole lot of programming yet.

    Go to Trinity

    Don't. It's over-rated.

Good luck deciding OP, i know I'd be really stuck after the two brilliant counter-arguments presented above.

Go to TCD. Its not over rated at all. Most people dont know each other, so you are starting completely fresh. Thats one of the reasons why I choose it. My friends in DCU, just stayed friends with people they already knew and never really made new friends or went out with dcu friends( this has happened to like 40 people I know).

TCD facilities are ok. The arts block is a bit ****ty, but the usher is great. But its right in the city, so you can live anywhere in Dublin and get to it easily, unlike DCU or UCD.

TCD are really nice. Its not elitist at all. Like it isnt full of "private school" students. There is a lot of contiental europeans.

Go to the Open day and see what you think.

I am having a hard time deciding what exactly to put on my CAO as well. My first choice right now is Computational Thinking at NUIM, take a closer look at this one if you like Maths because it looks pretty good. Another one that stands out is the DCU's new Computational Problem Solving and Software Development degree, you need some programming experience (and passion) for this one and it mainly focuses on project work.
Other courses look pretty much the same. I have TCD as my third choice, in case I don't get accepted into the above two.

A question: How much Maths is there in TCD's CS?

AFAIK you just need two languages. Trinity doesn't require applicants to have done Irish, so Irish can be used as one of your languages. Although my information could be a bit outdated - all the information should be under undergraduate admissions.
