I'm starting a new job in AIB Bankcentre and need advice on the best way to travel. I can drive or use public transport!

Might be better suited to the commuting and transport forum.

Id suggest driving to the N3 parkway station..... then taking the train to Lansdowne Road you will have to switch trains at Connolly

That's a nasty journey you have there.

I had a 2 week contract out in bankcenter and I was coming from Navan.
I found the best way was to leave at 6am. Straight in the M3, northbound on the M50 and in the M1/N1 towards drumcondra. I would then go down clonliffe rd beside croke park, then go over the eastlink toll and come up behind bankcenter and park in the RDS for the day. Due to being before 7am, I was able to use the bus lane. Also for AIB employees it's first come first served in the car park so you'll find people sleeping in their cars before the shift starts just so they can save on parking.

This is obviously an expensive way of doing it but I was able to claim the expenses. You may want to take the old N3 but that can add a good bit of time to your journey. Also, instead of taking the eastlink you could just go straight to Ballsbridge across the quays, over Pearse St and via Merrion Sq area.

Either way it's a bit of a balls of a journey.

OK - for public transport options go to the NTA Journey Planner at www.a-b.ie.

Enter exact locations and times - you may need to tweak the settings to get the right result.

Be warned, morning buses after 7am from Navan can be unpredictable (reading the 109 bus thread) in terms of journey time. They can take longer than advertised.

I'd say drive - I did a similar commute from Virginia to Fairview for a year and there's no way I'd have managed it if relying on public transport.

But aside from the parking, it'll cost you a fair bit in petrol/diesel and tolls (cost me about €100 a week at the time to run a 2.0 TDI Passat but i had free parking at least) plus there's the added wear and tear on the car (tyres, extra servicing etc) that you'll need to allow for.

In other words, what you'll save on time you'll spend on the car :(

Are you renting? Would moving closer be an option?
