No 7 year warranty

Hi Folks, bought a Kia pro ceed in April '10, the CD player failed within the year and was replaced - took a good while but wasn't that bothered by the wait - now the radio has started to switch itself off, and not switching off when I park and take out the keys....
Brought it back to the dealer who says it is out of warranty, he gave me the No for Kia customer service, who say nothing to do with them, but to tell the dealer to refer my case to some dept who may pay part of the repair cost.

Any advice on rights etc? what should I do?

Radio is pretty crap to be honest and if I'm gonna have to pay then I'd rather get a better one, will this affect the warranty that is still running on other parts?

    Cheers

Warranty on the radio is 3 years I think?

Aye, April '10 - Nov '13 is 3 years and six months, so out of warranty..

Radios are generally cheap enough, you could easily fit an after market one which will give you iPod/bluetooth/USB etc. for cheaper than the repair from a main dealer.

I never knew that! Are there any other parts that are excluded from the 7 year cover?

Yeah, battery is 2 years and paint is 5 years (as in defects as opposed to corrosion)

AFAIK radio warranty is 100,000km too which is odd.

Ah come on, aftermarket radio in a 2010 car will look brutal. You'd have to get a double DIN sized one for it to look any way decent, and even at that you'll lose remote audio control etc

so what is actually covered for 7 years? wonder has ASAI ever questioned their "home of the 7 year warranty" phrase in their adverts

To be fair, most expensive things are covered by the 7 years bit.
