Anyone know what I should be looking at paying for this? I dropped the car into the main dealer and they're saying the part is €188 + labour + VAT. They were saying somewhere around €350 all in. That seems a bit steep, but I'm not sure. How many hours would you need for labour approx?

    Cheers.

    Is it petrol?

The Lambda for my Mothers 1.6 07 A3 was around that money as well. Saucey enough. Fitted it myself but you need a tool to do so.

Yep, petrol. I won't be doing it myself anyway. Cheers.

I bought mine in a Motor factors as he said the dealer bought them off him anyway (Not sure in the truth in that, but he was still cheaper).

Priced online/ebay etc. and they were all roughly the same.

It's not a big job unless they're charging you 80 euro diagnostics etc. I can't see where they're getting the 300 + from.

    That'd be a 5 wire lambda.

As far as I know the motor factors don't do them. It'd be a main dealer part only.

Rings a bell with me. Definitely got it off the local Factors.

You could swap the upstream and downstream for a temporary fix.

Upstream and downstream are different so you can't do that ^^

We only use genuine sensors in these. Have been caught out too many times with aftermarket sensors.

OP your best bet is to get an independent garage to supply and fit a genuine VW sensor. That way you get the correct part without having to pay main dealer labour rates. I think the last one we did cost around €250 all in.

Why are they so expensive? Widebands?

Thanks George. I'm based in Carlow so between the travelling and waiting around, it might not be ideal at the moment. But I appreciate you giving me an idea as to the cost and I'll give you a shout if anything changes.

Yes I know I was just giving you an idea of the sort of price you would have to pay for the job in an independent vs a main dealer. Any half decent garage should be able to do it once you make sure they are using a genuine VW sensor.

Probably going to get laughed off for this ??
00 skoda needed lamda sensor (s),told it'd be about 300e each, put dipetane in the tank and the engine managment light went off (couple of tanks later),
Nct passed and I didnt put dipetane in the tank for a while... Management light came back on ... Yesterday I filled the tank and put in dipetane again and drove to Dublin ...engine light off today ..
    300 euro'd buy a lot of dipetane !!!
