I think this should be in the "Gold" section: "TCD gets added to TheFacebook"

    Interesting to read through it.

    Quotes like
    • "could prove to be a useful tool if it takes off like it has in the states"
    • I don't get it
    • it's a far too american concept. if you want to catch up with people from college, you keep their number.

it's a funny and interesting look back at recent history. it's like reading through those old threads where people were saying "housing market going to collapse? you're ****ing nuts"

just mad to see how wrong people can be

Why is that? Looking back at the reception to things that are everyday now can be really interesting.

I have all my money invested in Bebo now, I'm really expecting it to make a BIG comeback soon, like pogs and Alf did.

Agreed. I was looking through a mega thread on the moon landing recently, very interesting thread. Most posters have closed their accounts or are dead now.

there's a few threads about the black death that make for pretty depressing reading. by the end of page 10 most people who posted on page 2 were already dead

The Titantic one was good too. Keith AFC was bigging it up of course ,giving it "it's been built with Ulster hands" and then of course that iceberg made him look quite foolish.

Sold it for a billion and bought it back for a million. No idea how it will do when it relaunches though.

Sound business if you ask me.

I love when you look back at things like this. There was an episode of the Larry David Show, where his co-host or whatever had invested in mobile phones, after making some bad investment decisions. The end of the episode was when they had said there were links to brain tumours and the guy runs out of the run looking scared. Funny to think that if he did invest in mobile phones back then, he'd be worth a lot of money now probably.
