Does anyone have any past experience of this? I've decided to go for a jobbridge internship provided you can still go for interviews while on it, however do you have to prove you've been for interviews or can you just say I've an interview in Dublin tomorrow and I need the whole day off. I'm searching the whole country for jobs so this will be the case, has anyone ever had any hassle on these internships regarding going for other job interviews. i'm hearing such nasty stories about the whole process.

If you're on a JB, then employers have to allow you time off for interviews. They can't refuse.

Thanks.Do you have to tell them where you're going or get proof you were at an interview? The way the social puts you through the mill with everything I wouldn't be surprised......

I would assume you'd need to supply proof. Have you checked with Welfare?

Oh so you've no personal experience of it. My welfare office either act dumb about jobbridge or else don't want to take the responsibility of answering......Thanks anyway.

No, I have no personal experience of it, but have interviewed for JB positions. That was one of the first questions I asked, and that was what I was told. Confirmed by Welfare.

But I wasn't asked for proof. That was an assumption on my part.

You won't have dealings with welfare, you will negotiate with your employer/host company. Like a medical appointment, most employers just take your word for it, some will be more intransigent and seek proof.
It's up to you, the internship you choose, the relationship you build with them, and their normal HR policy.

Go for your interview. It's polite of course to inform your "employer"

But remember that your employer has benefited from your free labour courtesy of the tax payer

The least the employer might do is facilitate you in seeking real work

You know, the kind of old-fashioned work that your employer actually has to pay you a wage for.
