    Hey all,

I'm looking to buy a couple of external drives for back-up and for general storage of photos, preferably not ones that need an external power source, but that are portable and can be brought about with a laptop.

Has anyone purchase one recently - any advice?!

    Cheers

I picked up a "Seagate Backup Plus 1TB USB3.0" on a recent trip, find it great, If your computer is rocking USB 3.0 the speed is great

Currently I'm using 2 X 2 TB Seagate drives which were around 80-100 euro each. Find them excellent! I am also trying out Bitcasa as my cloud solution.

I know there are issues with cloud storage but this works out at 70 euro per annum for unlimited storage! My cloud currently stands at 1TB data stored including music, movies and pics!!!

It's not for everyone but I get peace of mind from it so alls good!!

That's interesting - I hadn't considered cloud! (sounds silly now though!)

I'm using Seagate Back up plus 1tb drives, not expensive either and damned good! Then there's the WesternDigital "MyBook" that I've had for ages that everything gets backed up to!

except when you have to upload 10,000 raw files on a 0.20 mps upload speed it can take some time...:pac:

I use live drive but I'm thinking of stopping that and going with, multiple hard drives as it just quicker.

Looks like they changed the pricing and now you only get 1TB for this price ($99 per year). The unlimited account is now $999 per year.

I saw this at a photo expo recently "Drobo Connected Data Transporter" It's a personal cloud, that you connect to your wifi and can access from anywhere in the world. Handy idea
