He always annoyed me I have to say.

Once the ratings drop he will be back.

Don't worry the new pet will still be Seth MacFarlane showing the world why his view are right and anyone that has different views is evil or dumb.

    What utter predictable tripe!

we all knew it was going to be the dog, (although i was hoping they'd kill peter and have lois remarry) he was the 'easiest' to replace. how they did it was cheap though, they could have used old age....

peter is just more irritating now than funny, he was genuinely funny in petarded, but now its just simple stupidity. again in that episode it came across that stewie and lois were brians best friends more than peter.

in fact peter didn't miss him at all,

and i hate the new dog, just no appeal and the fact i've only seen 10 minutes of him and i would be glad to not have to hear that annoying voice again.

tbh i think thats the end of my watching newer family guy days, back to seasons 1-3 for me, the rest just never happened imo.

FYI Brain has "died" in at least one episode for the last 3 seasons.

I'm shocked....and he's been replaced with an Italian stereotype, Vinnie! :P

Surely Brian will be back....maybe his ghost will.

I liked the Brian/Stewie dynamic, show will not be the same now. Vinnie is already annoying imo.

What really pissed me off about this is, not only have they killed off the best character, and now Stewie has lost his best character to play off against, but how they killed him was grade a bull****.

It was done in such a way that it made it seem like he would be back by the end, and his death was really really cheap. You couldn't invest in it because you where just waiting for Stewie to invent a new time machine. Brian deserved an end worthy of his importance to the show.

A perfect example was the kidney transplant episode, if they wanted to kill him off, THAT is how it should have been done. It was built up beautifully and was a great tribute to the character, everyone in the Family had their moment with him and it tugged at your heart strings. That was quality writing, as apposed to this lazy excuse for a death. Plus doing it so soon after the kidney episode cheapens it also, because again you were made to believe that "ah sure he will be back at the end" and you couldn't invest in any of the characters emotions.

I'd still regard season 4 highly but yeah it has gone down the tubes since then. The earlier episodes had surreal moments but there was still substance to the episodes, a proper storyline and something to make you think.

In recent years, though, the storylines are totally disjointed and shock value seems to be the order of the day. It's as if the writers are just looking to fill 20-minute slots with a mish-mash of ideas.

If The Simpsons has declined in quality over the years, then Family Guy has totally been flushed down the toilet, which is a shame because it was once a genuinely funny, witty show

Disjointed episode set up to do nothing but bridge a gap between one character being written off and a new one written in. There was nothing worth watching. Have a feeling I'll be giving up very soon.

rep for 20th Century Fox just told TVLine that Family Guy's producers are distancing themselves from BriansAnnouncement.com, claiming it's a hoax site.
However, TVLine says it believes Brian will nonetheless be resurrected around the time the countdown is set to expire, suggesting he will most likely make his return during the upcoming "Christmas Guy" episode which revolves around Stewie plotting to get "the one and only thing he wants for Christmas."

I really doubt that this is permanent.

I only watched the episode because of the backlash and I assume that was what they wanted, lots of viewers that left to come back to see the *shocking* episode

Shame they didnt attach the death to a good episode.

the big picture did a nice sum up of how pointless the whole affair was, if anything worthwhile might come from it and how most likely nothing will

Personally, I stopped watching about four or five seasons ago and while the fanfare made me watch this one, nothing made me want to stay.

If they wanted to do something interesting with the spot then they should for the short term do a south park and have the *new dog* killed off every episode this season until they get bored and bring brian back.

Forthcoming episodes "Brian the Closer" and "Brian the Bad Father". Publicisation of an episode where Brian falls for a runner scheduled for Autumn 2014.

So he'll be back one way or another. Episode is a dumb gimmick to drum up ratings.

Was Brian the only character to die (again) and not have "Death" appear .???..;).;)....love Death...

    Josh:P

Yeah, saw the forthcoming episode list and Brians listed for some appearances and 2 episodes he's the central character. Doesn't make sense unless they're desperate for ratings.

Hasn't Brian been dead since the Vegas trip and the Brian that "died" was just a clone. Maybe the Christmas special that involves a Stewie for the past going to Christmas to get what he wants. When he finds that Brian died, he goes back in time and save Brain from being killed?
No wait this would require Family Guy having a arching story plot.

After watching the new episode after they killed Brian I'm starting to think really should have killed off Peter!
Maybe they did at the end of this episode he kills himself.

I think Family Guy is after running its course tbh, its gone silly now just like the Simpsons all be it not as bad just yet.

It's so obvious how he will come back into the show
Stewie mentions in the episode that he went forward in time to see santa clause. Therefore it stands to reason that come xmas he will meet his past self who went forward in time and hatch a plan to fix the accident.

Plus next week's episode's details are:

When Carter Pewterschmidt cancels the annual Quahog Christmas carnival, because he hates the holiday, Peter must transform his father-in-law from a Scrooge into a hometown hero in order to salvage the event. Meanwhile, Stewie devises a master plan to get the one and only thing he wants for Christmas.

And an episode for next season has a confirmed plot of brian dating a runner played by Maya Rudolph.

    :P

    When satire becomes reality...

    Poochie.gif

To be honest, I'd be shocked if I've seen more than 5 episodes of Family Guy in the last 7 or so years. I gave up shortly after the reboot, when it dawned on me that South Park and Futurama were just an awful lot better really.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,849 ✭✭✭764dak

I'm so glad I live in North America. I get to see brand new episodes. Anyway,
Brian will probably come back in the Christmas episode. Brian has his name in the title in a few episodes this season and he is the main protagonist in an episode next season. Vinnie's voice actor is only signed up for 6 episodes so Vinnie will only be a recurring character.
